Where Have I Been?

So it has been a while since I have done this blogging thing… it’s not that there isn’t anything going one I just haven’t had time to blog about it and I don’t find myself to be that compelling of a writer, so I am at a loss to make my mundane life seem interesting… but I will give it a shot.

What has prompted me to write today? Well besides the proding from a birthday wisher…(you know who you are) I had the best weekend I have had in a very long time.

The sun decided to show it’s self on Friday so I took the day off from work. I spent the morning on my motorcycle we went for a nice ride to Belfast. Then that afternoon we hit the lake for a swim. It was cold but Z enjoyed it.

Sat. I rode my bike out to breakfast. then a few friends and family came over for a cookout. Sat. night I was out with friends and Sunday I got to just relax all day.

It was wonderful. no chores, no stress, and lots of sunshine.

Let the countdown begin…

9 days and counting until we fly off to the promise of sun and surf in Hawaii… I am very much looking forward to hiking Diamond Head and Manloa (sp.) Falls. As well as seeing North Shore, the USS Arizona Memorial and the Budist Tempel.  I am hoping to post some pics when we return.

So we have booked a trip to Hawaii. T and I will be heading to the islands in April. We are very excited. Oahu look out! and as it turns out we will be there during the annual Spam Festival… yes Spam the meat in a can. And you better believe we will be checking that out…lol!

In other news I am saddened by the passing of Dennis Boynton. He and his family have been friends of our family for many many years. Services will be held Monday March 2, 2009.

I will post more about our travel plans as they become available… I am still doing some research on the Island

New Addition

This is Ridley… he has come to live with us. He is a Lab/Pit mix. very ovable…not too hyper but definately all puppy. He hasn’t chewed anything he is not supose to and loves to cuddle… i will keep you posted on his development…. He already knows his name (sort of)

…Santa Claus Comes tonight…

So Santa is coming tonight… I plan on burning the coal he leaves me for heat. Hope all of you on the nice list (naughty list too) have a wonderful holiday. I am thinking of those of you I care about and won’t be with tomorrow…

I’m Ready… No wait a minute… Ok Now I’m Ready!

 

 

 

 

So I think I have done it. I think I am actually ready for the holidays christmas in particular and it is not even close to Christmas Eve. Years ago I was one of those annoying people who had everything bought and wrapped in like August but with the addition of children to my family that preparadness slipped some, ok so it ran awayfrom my grasp like Kathleen Turner on a mud slide in Romancing the Stone, but thats not the point. I think i am finally getting some of it back.

I am officially done shopping! (of course this is easy to say because I am offically out of money…lol) But no really I think I have gotten something for everyone on my list and I have even already picked up my last minute gifts.

I thought I was done last week… I was wrong. But this time I am pretty sure I’m finished.

A Holiday Miracle…

So for the first time since we (my family joined by Babcia and the Boynton crew) have begun having Thanksgiving Dinner at my house… NOTHING BAD HAPPENED!!!!! I didn’t set the turkey on fire, I found and removed all of the “extra” parts and there were no injuries.

Actualy it was a very nice day. I cooked a 25lb turkey… I know, I know a bit much for 8 people but I like having leftovers. We had mashed potato, acorn squash grown by the youngest Barboza, carrots, turnip, sweet potato, stuffin’ muffins, rolls and hot chocolate cake for dessert. I think everyone had a nice time… I know I did!

Now on to Black Friday…

As is tradition my mother and I were up before the sun waiting with all the other crazy folks to shop at 5 am… Yes 5am! Now up until this point I had not begun any holiday shopping… So we shopped, we shopped Friday morning and all day Saturday, and I am happy to report… All of my shopping is now complete. I picked up the few outstanding gifts on my list last night. Whew!!! Now all I have to do is get it all wraped….
